Meraki Guardianship Services Inc. was founded in August 2018 by Gretchen Johnson, NCG. Gretchen is a nationally certified guardian and has an extensive history in both medicine and education. She has worked in a variety of medical settings including clinical, assisted living, home health and hospice. She also taught at the college level preparing students for the medical field, including medical assisting, medical administrative assisting, and health care management. Most recently, Gretchen has worked in behavioral health case management, providing valuable resources for those in need. Gretchen believes the client is the heart of the guardianship team and has a voice in every decision. She strives to combine her medical knowledge and educational experience to assist each client so that they may retain their dignity and regain as much autonomy as possible.
Guardianship is a legal process and should be used only as a last resort. Guardianship clients have severe memory loss, dementia, or cognitive impairments that seriously jeopardize their health and well-being. Many clients have experienced self-neglect, physical abuse and/or financial exploitation. A guardian is appointed only when it has been determined that the client lacks decision-making capacity and must have a surrogate decision-maker appointed to advocate for services and give informed consent for medical procedures.
